The iconic F-22 Raptor—a single-seat, twin-engine, all-weather tactical aircraft—has long been considered one of the finest fighters to ever take to the skies.
However, as Aviation Geek Club defense writer Dario Leone points out, "Despite its formidable capabilities, the F-22 has never made an emergency landing on an aircraft carrier."
To better understand why this is true, Leon turned to Tim Hibbettsen, a former US Navy A-6 and F/A-18 Hornet pilot, who sheds light on this important topic on Quora.

"Let's get the ugly facts straight: As great as they are at their jobs, Air Force pilots don't practice landing airplanes. It's an underrated skill in this question. While you're smoking hundreds of joints, you don't want to be a carrier (at best). At least without training, pilots this can't even come close to the safe parameters of a conventional trap. Landing on a barricade is at least five times more difficult and dangerous. You can't get there.
